MY APPROACH
I believe in a short-term, goal-oriented, collaborative approach. After establishing the goals during the first few sessions, it is my job to keep you on track, and it is your job to let me know if we are moving toward achieving your goals or getting off track. I invite you to participate actively in the process and move at a pace that is comfortable for you. No matter what approach I use, two keywords that constitute my motto are strength and choices. I believe that each of us has the resources for healing and growth and that there is usually more than one choice available.
I treat children, pre-teens, teens, families with children, women, and older adults. My focus includes:
Children: trauma, lack of social skills/motivation, low academic performance, choice of friends, peer and sibling relationships, aggressive and defiant behavior, assertiveness training
Parents: parenting conflicts, co-parenting, blended family issues
Women: unstable or abusive relationships, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, chronic pain
Older adults: chronic pain, isolation, end of life, grief and loss
I utilize the following approaches:
Solution-Focused
Narrative
Cognitive-Behavioral
Trauma-Focused CBT
